Duties

Help
  • Establish and maintain an effective and efficient personnel security program within an organization.
  • Provide definitive technical advice and assistance to senior authorities regarding establishment of a comprehensive personnel security program.
  • Adjudicate eligibility for security clearance and sensitive compartmented information (SCI) access from personnel security, investigations.
  • Plan, develop, and implement personnel related security policies and procedures to ensure determinations of security clearances are in accordance with regulations.
  • Conduct personnel security interviews and assist customer with completing clearance forms.
  • Interpret information security classification guides for consistency with executive order security classification criteria.
  • Review classified document to ensure the document marking meets the requirements in the executive order and Department of Defense regulations.
  • Conduct security violation investigations involving classified information.
  • Safeguard and store intelligence related classified and sensitive information in compliance of regulations.
  • Research Department of Defense Directives, military department regulations, and policy documents to analyze and solve difficult and complex security situations.
  • Provide guidance to security managers and commanders concerning verification of security clearances in accordance with regulations.
  • Provide policy and guidance regarding release of classified and unclassified information to foreign nationals.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Must be willing to undergo and successfully complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination with No Deception Indicated (NDI) on a pre-appointment and periodic basis.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance based on a Single-scope background investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented Information (SCI).
  • Must be able to obtain the SFPC certification; as mandated by the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification Program, within the first two years of employment, and yearly SPeD certifications, thereafter.

Army DCIPS positions apply Veteran's Preference to preference eligible candidates as defined by Section 2108 of Title 5 U.S.C., in accordance with the procedures provided in DoD Instruction 1400.25, Volume 2005, DCIPS Employment and Placement.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: experience with security, directly related to the adjudication of security investigations, the review of an individual's clearance level, the classification/declassification of sensitive documents/information, the storage of classified information, conducting security briefings, coordinating access/movement of foreign visitors, conducting security inspections/orientations, developing/implementing personnel security policies and procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-11).

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.
