Duties
Students placed in internships via this announcement will work with SEC staff members on various projects and assignments that cover a broad range of the Commissions' work. The work assigned will depend upon a student's placement within a Division or Office. Internship assignments range from supporting securities regulations to assisting in professional administrative duties such as human resources, contracting, auditing, etc.
Typical duties include the following:
Assist in conducting analysis and research in support of assigned program areas.
Respond to routine questions within the assigned program areas.
Assist in the maintenance of automated databases.

The SEC's Headquarters is located in Washington, DC. The SEC consists of 11 Regional Offices located across the United States, refer to the "Locations" section of this announcement for the list of locations. Hourly Rates
Hourly minimum and maximum rates vary based on location. Hourly rates are as follows:
SK-05: $18.95 to $35.61 ($39,549 to $74,319 Per Year)
SK-07: $23.47 to $44.76 ($48,989 to $93,409 Per Year)

TRIAL PERIOD: This appointment may require completion of a two-year trial period.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM: You must meet all eligibility requirements for the Pathways Internship Program at the time of application as well as the duration of the appointment . You will be required to sign a Pathways Participant Agreement.
GPA: You must have at the time of application and maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of a 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or the equivalent for the duration of the appointment.
ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENT: You must be accepted for enrollment or enrolled at least half-time in an accredited educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate. You must maintain status as a current student while on this appointment.
PROOF OF ENROLLMENT: You must furnish course registration information at the start of each school term; and provide verification of academic status (transcript) at the end of each school term.
WORK SCHEDULES: Interns shall work full-time during the summer AND full-time or part-time (i.e., at least 20 hours per week) work schedules during the school year (based on agency needs) while continuing their education.
The anticipated start date of this position is in August 2022.
Due to COVID-19, the SEC is currently in an optional telework posture. This position is eligible to request telework in accordance with the SEC's telework policy.

To be eligible for consideration for this internship under the Pathways Internship Program, you must meet the following:
You must be accepted for enrollment or enrolled and seeking a degree or certificate at an accredited educational institution on at least a half-time basis (as determined by the educational institution) and
You must possess a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of a 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or the equivalent.
If selected, you must continue to meet these eligibility requirements throughout the duration of the appointment under the Pathways Internship Program.
Note: Students must be accepted for enrollment or enrolled in the upcoming Fall 2022 semester for consideration and placement in this internship.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT
The qualification requirements must be met within 60 calendar days of the closing date of this announcement.
Qualifying education must have been obtained from an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. An academic year of undergraduate education is considered to be 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent as defined by an accredited educational institution. An academic year of graduate education is considered to be 18 semester hours or 27 quarter hours, or the equivalent as defined by an accredited educational institution.
In order to qualify for this position at the GS/SK-05 level, you must possess the following:
Four (4) academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree. (Note: If you select this response, you must submit relevant transcripts.)
In order to qualify for this position at the GS/SK-07 level, you must possess at least one of the following:
(A.) One (1) full academic year of graduate level education. (Note: If you select this response, you must submit relevant transcripts.) OR
(B.) Successfully completed all the requirements for a bachelor's degree and claim Superior Academic Achievement. In order to be creditable under this provision, Superior Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled.
