Duties

Help
  • You will serve as SECURITY SPECIALIST in the SECURITY OPERATIONS AND PLANS DIVISION (SPK53) in the SECURITY DEPARTMENT (SPK50) at the STRATEGIC WEAPONS FACILITY ATLANTIC (SWFLANT) FIELD ACTIVITY OF STRATEGIC SYSTEMS PROGRAMS.
  • You will assist the Security Operations Division Officer in a broad range of security programs, projects and operations
  • You will conduct research and analysis to provide timely responses to requests for information (RFIs) regarding security aspects of future projects, plans, events or policy.
  • You will prepare security plans and procedures that meet higher level directives to support new facility projects, maintenance and construction efforts to include the development and submission of Free Zone plans for higher-level approval.
  • You will develop and maintain SWFLANT Nuclear Weapons Security (NWS) Policy and ensure aspects of NWS are in compliance with DoD S-5210.41-M and SECNAVINST 8126.1A
  • You will develop NWS deviations to include the of the establishment of compensatory measures for conditions where NWS requirements cannot be met.
  • You will review current OPSEC practices and lead OPSEC Program action and support efforts.
  • You will conduct inventories, create classified material destruction reports and destroy documents as required.
  • You will assist with execution of duties of the SWFLANT Antiterrorism Officer responsible for development, implementation and assessment of antiterrorism measures as required.
  • You will conduct periodic evaluation of security policy, processes and procedures for compliance, effectiveness, and efficiency.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to accept a position which involves participating in the Personnel Reliability Program.
  • The duties require the incumbent to complete Tier I Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) certified as a Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within 12-months of assignment.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NH-02 pay band (GS-11 equivalent) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: applying security procedures and techniques of multiple security specialties (e.g. physical, informational, and personnel) to develop and implement security policies and plans to protect personnel and equipment against threats and to safeguard the unauthorized disclosure of classified materials for a Nuclear Weapons Security program.

Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) is a highly specialized workforce composed of military and civilian, scientific, engineering, and professional personnel that work closely with private contractors and consultants. SSP directs the development, production, logistics support, and sustaining engineering effort of the Navy Strategic Weapon System. This includes direction of research, development, manufacture, test, evaluation, and operational support of the TRIDENT Missile. SSP plans and directs the development of training systems and equipment; conducts the training of fleet personnel in the operations of the systems; provides facilities; and has the responsibility for fulfilling the terms of the U.S./U.K. Sales Agreement.
