Summary

Duties

Help

As a Public Affairs Specialist, you will:

  • Plan, direct, and execute marketing strategies to attract applicants for residency and employment at the AFRH-Gulfport and AFRH-Washington facilities to meet the agency's goals for occupancy and staffing.
  • Develops and approves marketing materials using a wide variety of mediums and formats.
  • Organize and direct special events, VIP visits, meetings, presentations, and tours to develop interest in Agency programs.
  • Plan, develop, and execute the agency-wide AFRH Communication Plan.
  • Handel all public information and public inquiries, news releases and press queries.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

For the GS-14, you must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:

  • Developing and implementing recruitment for individual or community strategies; AND
  • Developing media relations with local and national outlets, or developing relations with Veterans Service Organizations; AND
  • Managing application program in a military, civilian or community setting.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- A one year probationary period may be required.

- Selectees will be subject to the AFRH Tuberculosis Surveillance Program.
- Because the AFRH's mission requires uninterrupted, direct human support and medical care for its Residents, this position is considered essential for continuing AFRH operations. Therefore, the incumbent is expected to arrive for duty on time, as scheduled, and to complete the assigned tour during emergency situations such as hazardous weather.
