Summary

This position is with the Office of Inspector General (OIG), Information Technology Division, in Sacramento, CA. Duties

Help

As a Information Technology Specialist, GS-2210-13, you will perform the following major duties:

  • Provide remote and deskside support: imaging laptops, performing data retention, supporting mobile devices, developing scripts, configuring file and printer servers; develop/draft documentation and user guides; conduct user training as needed.
  • Diagnose and resolve problems in response to reported incidents; use a wide variety of software applications, computer hardware, desktop operating systems, anti-virus software, Office suites, and network client setup.
  • Perform IT systems security-related tasks, using prescribed methods, and tools in support of cyber and information security standards.
  • May correspond via telecommunication devices or in person to peers, supervisors, managers, and customers; provide troubleshooting and customer support via phone, live video feeds.
  • Ensure rigorous application of information security/assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of technical services; notify the unit supervisor or senior IT staff on any IT issues, problems, and concerns.

  • Time-in-grade requirement - Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions contained in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F.
  • Must be a current DOI OIG employee.
  • Work involves walking, bending, and climbing associated with on-the-job site locations; and moderate physical exertion.
  • Travel by air or car is required; trips may last for 5 to 10 nights.

Basic Requirement: Your resume must reflect information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating each of the four competencies below:

  1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.

Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
  3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

In addition to the basic requirements above, applicants must meet one year of the specialized experience listed below to be considered:

Minimum Qualifications GS-13 :

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service performing all of the following:
  • Independently (or with minimal supervision) developing goals to provide IT support services to a fast-paced work environment;
  • Procuring IT-related hardware, software, and services in adherence to Federal purchasing rules and regulations;
  • Utilizing a variety of IT applications to troubleshoot complex issues related to Windows 10, Microsoft Bitlocker, Microsoft Outlook 365, Microsoft OneDrive and the suite of Office 365 productivity applications; AND
  • Applying in-depth knowledge on cybersecurity concepts, principles, and standards to provide IT services.

Education

There is no substitution of education for experience for this position.
