Duties

Help
  • Duties are listed at full performance level:
  • Advise unit personnel on applicable laws, regulations, directives, and policies to accomplish administrative tasks relating to acquisitions, payroll, human resources, agreements, travel, facilities, safety, security, and other related issues.
  • Utilize automated systems to initiate personnel requests, annual performance ratings, local recruitment efforts, and new employee orientation to support unit (or management).
  • Monitor and advice supervisors of cyclical employee human resource actions for employee welfare and assurance of required actions.
  • Handle procurement requests for office supplies and equipment needed to support unit employees.
  • Perform general property management support services to maintain and dispose of equipment to support unit functions.
  • Perform property inventories, file maintenance, discrepancy reports and related documentation.
  • Prepare budget requests for administrative operations, front desk operations and facility maintenance to keep unit functioning efficiently.
  • Perform administrative and human resources management functions for the unit such as providing advice, counsel or instruction on both administrative and work matters.
  • Foster an inclusive workplace where diversity and individual differences are leveraged to achieve the vision and mission of the organization.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience Requirement:
For the GS-06: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level; Examples of specialized experience are: Assembled monthly expenditures for operating budget reporting; Reviewed correspondence for grammatical accuracy; Purchased, received, and distributed supplies and special order items, including reconciling purchases in a database and monitoring when additional supplies needed to be ordered
OR
One full year (18 semester/27 quarter hours) of successfully completed graduate level education if the coursework is directly related to the work of the position (for example Business or Public Administration, or other administrative or management fields related to the position being filled);
OR
combinations of graduate level education that is directly related to the position and specialized experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. Experience must have demonstrated knowledge of the methods and procedures for providing or performing a variety of functions and services applicable to the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience are: Assembled monthly expenditures for operating budget reporting; Reviewed correspondence for grammatical accuracy; Purchased, received, and distributed supplies and special order items, including reconciling purchases in a database and monitoring when additional supplies needed to be ordered

For the GS-07: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level; Examples of specialized experience are: Collected and analyzed budgetary information and statistical data for use in the formulation and execution of budget requests and reports; Purchasing supplies, equipment, and services; Created travel orders and vouchers; Composed, typed, and proofread correspondence and narrative and tabular material (i.e., databases and spreadsheets).
OR
One full year (18 semester/27 quarter hours) of successfully completed graduate level education if the coursework is directly related to the work of the position (for example Business or Public Administration, or other administrative or management fields related to the position being filled);
OR
combinations of graduate level education that is directly related to the position and specialized experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. Experience must have demonstrated knowledge of the methods and procedures for providing or performing a variety of functions and services applicable to the position to be filled.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
