Student Trainees will receive opportunities for learning in a professional work environment that focuses on FTC career-related fields such as human resources management, investigating, accounting, law enforcement, law, and economics.

U.S. Citizens (who are currently enrolled in school and meet the requirements of the Pathways Internship Program) This is a temporary summer position with a not to exceed date of 09/30/2022, with the possibility of a 1 year extension. Duties

Help

As a Student Trainee (Office Automation) with the Federal Trade Commission, you will assist higher-level staff with various administrative clerical duties and support the offices within the FTC.

In addition, you will perform the following duties, which includes, but is not limited to;
- Maintaining office records; filing material; locating and compiling data or information from files.
- Assisting higher-level staff with developing documents, including finalizing draft correspondence, reports and other related documents using a variety of office automation applications.
- Providing callers and visitors with general information.- Processing and distributing mail to appropriate individuals.
- Receiving incoming calls and visitors.
- Assisting with customer service and best practices initiatives.
- Assisting with special projects and tasks as assigned.

To be eligible, you must be currently enrolled or accepted for enrollment on at least a half-time basis in an accredited high school, college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, or trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate. Certificate programs are defined as post-secondary education, in a qualifying educational institution, equivalent to at least one academic year of full-time study that is part of an accredited college-level, technical, trade, vocational, or business school curriculum.

Must maintain student eligibility and enrollment for the duration of the internship. If graduation from an undergraduate program is expected by Spring 2022, must be accepted for enrollment to a fall graduate program and able to provide verification of this acceptance.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position at the GS-02 level, you must possess the following:
- Completion of high school or General Education Diploma and be enrolled or accepted into an accredited institution of higher learning.

To qualify for this position at the GS-03 level, you must possess the following:
- Completion of one (1) full academic year of post-high school study.

To qualify for this position at the GS-04 level, you must possess the following:
- Completion of 2 full academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree.

To qualify for this position at the GS-05 level, you must possess the following:
- Completion of 4 academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree.

Pathways Internship Program Requirements:
- Must be enrolled or accepted as a degree-seeking student.
- Must be enrolled or have been accepted for enrollment in an accredited school.
- Must be taking at least half-time academic course load.



Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

If you qualify on the basis of education in lieu of experience, you must submit a copy of your transcripts . Unofficial transcripts will be accepted in the application package; however, official transcripts will be required prior to receiving an official offer.

If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
