Actively participates in one or more phases of the research process by performing a variety of complex technical duties, in a laboratory, field, or greenhouse environment.
Contributes ideas towards the planning and sequencing of the technical aspects of the research.
Maintains records and locates and compiles data and other information from various sources.
Performs the full range of techniques and studies using a variety of specialized equipment.

GS-07- The qualification requirements for this position at the GS-07 grade level includes one-year specialized experience at the GS-06 grade level, or its non-Federal equivalent, collecting or analyzing plant or seed samples in a laboratory or field environment; using and/or adapting a variety of diagnostic assays to detect plant pathogens; recording and analyzing scientific data; and operating or maintaining standard laboratory equipment. OR Education: One full year of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's or equivalent graduate degree, if directly related. Related degrees may include Biology, Botany, Plant Physiology, Crop Sciences, Plant Pathology, Plant Sciences and other biological related degrees provided that the coursework place an emphasis on plants. OR
A qualifying combination of graduate education and experience as described above.
