  • Provides protocol support to the Administrator and Deputy Administrator on all aspects of travel to Centers, commercial and industry partners.
  • Develops or reviews itineraries, event agendas, manages and oversee transportation requirements and hotel accommodations.
  • Quickly and efficiently deconflicting schedule challenges throughout the visit based on knowledge of priorities and requirements, etc.
  • Manages guest invitations for launches for cabinet-level agencies including private sector organizations.
  • Maintains updated information on guest lists, ensures invitations for events are properly prepared, delivered and confirm acceptances/declinations.
  • Ensures proper hospitality for meeting and greeting guests at events and ensures proper protocol and procedures are in place and enforced during activities.
  • Serves as part of a team responsible for the planning and execution of all Presidential, Vice-Presidential, and/or heads of state hosted events, conferences, and related international meetings.
  • Leads a protocol team across the agency for all high-level events and special projects. Coordinates visits by senior leadership to ensure all logistics and requirements are in place.
  • Manages all aspects of distinguished visits with NASA and commercial partners including VIP tours, site visits, obtaining subject matter experts, transportation, area access to facilities, itineraries and other arrangements as needed.

Qualifications

You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, which has equipped you with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above.

To qualify for GS-14, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level

  • applying and adhering to protocol standards for the planning and coordination of high-level events within an organization;
  • researching complex issues to provide advice and recommendation to senior management on agency regulations and protocol guidelines;
  • contributing to the improvement of quality and efficient service by applying innovative initiatives to events and protocol management.
Protocol Officer Training by an accredited institution, such as The Protocol School of Washington is preferred.
