Provide overall direction for the organizations surveillance programs and activities.
Provide consultation and managerial assistance for internal and external activities related to developing and recommending policies and procedures for surveillance management and support .
Formulate changes to various public health systems and data workflows
Prepare for changes that will occur as a result of the implementation of changing technological and programmatic understanding of COVID-19 and other emerging infectious diseases.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications: Degree: that included 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, of which at least 12 semester hours were in mathematics and 6 semester hours were in statistics. OR
Combination of education and experience that includes at least 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, including at least 12 semester hours in mathematics and 6 semester hours in statistics, as show in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Courses acceptable toward meeting the mathematics course requirement above much have included at least four of the following: differential calculus, integral calculus, and advanced calculus, theory of equations, vector analysis, advanced algebra, linear algebra, mathematical logic, differential equations, or any other advanced course in mathematics for which one of these was a prerequisite.
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 in the Federal service as defined in the next paragraph.
Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include managing, planning, developing, coordinating, and evaluating public health surveillance programs and activities related to notifiable conditions and syndromic surveillance, data science and analytical activities.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
