Duties

Help
  • Conducts audits of DoD programs, functions, and missions to facilitate changes by promoting efficiency under the supervision of a full performance level team member or leader.
  • Works as a member of an audit team.
  • Completes routine audit tasks.
  • Performs fact gathering and collects data to meet requirement of defined tasks/audit steps.
  • Researches applicable laws, directives, regulations, manuals and audit reports for data relevant to area being audited.
  • Prepares legible and accurate work papers.
  • Prepares and processes all necessary forms to meet administrative requirements.
  • Maintain security and accountability of classified information.

  • Prior to entry on duty or at some point thereafter, new DoD civilian employees MAY be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID 19, subject to such exceptions as required by law.
  • Incumbent is required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment, and is subject to random drug testing for the duration of service with DoD OIG.

  • Position has been designated as Noncritical Sensitive. Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
  • If you have not previously completed a probationary period with the Federal government in a similar position, you will be required to serve a two-year probationary period.
  • All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • The incumbent must adhere to the DoD Standards of Conduct.
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.5 - must be maintained throughout the entire internship appointment.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a Pathways Internship Program Participant Agreement.

Qualifications

Internship Program Eligibility

Applicants must be currently enrolled or accepted for enrollment and seeking a degree, diploma, or certificate in a qualifying educational institution on a full or half-time basis, as defined by the educational institution.

Must be scheduled to graduate AFTER December 1, 2022

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have completed, or will have completed by their date of hire, at least two years of education above the high school level. The education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college, or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or at least 20 classroom hours per week for a minimum of 36 weeks.

Must be pursuing a degree in auditing; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration or accounting.

Accreditation: To be creditable, education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. Additional information

Applicants must be in good academic standing with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.95.

Applicants must have earned at least 12 semester hours or 18 quarter hours in accounting, auditing, finance, or business law courses, and must be pursuing a degree or certification in accounting or a related field, such as business administration, finance, or public administration.

The Pathways Internship Program provides students enrolled in educational institutions with paid opportunities to work in federal agencies, gain valuable on-the-job experience, and explore careers while still in school. The program provides meaningful developmental work with the objective of preparing the student for placement into the agency's permanent workforce.

This internship is a full-time position in the summer. With supervisory approval, interns may work a part-time schedule while classes are in session and full- or part-time during extended school breaks. Conversion: Interns may be noncompetitively converted to a permanent or term (time-limited) position within 120 days of successful completion of the program. To be eligible for conversion, interns must: complete at least 640 hours of work experience acquired through the Internship Program; complete their degree or certificate requirements; meet the qualification standards for the position to which the Intern will be converted, meet agency-specific requirements as specified in the Pathways Participant Agreement; and perform their job successfully. Time spent under previous Internship Program appointments may count towards required work experience hours. Once noncompetitively converted, the position has a full performance level of GS-13.
