Duties

Help
  • Coordinate (or provide policy oversight of) the planning and development for technical manuals and equipment publications related to a C5ISR communications-electronics weapons system.
  • Conduct In Process Review(s) (IPR(s)) of technical manuals and equipment publications.
  • As part of the IPR, provide technically sound comments linked to regulatory requirements (e.g. referencing specific MIL-STD 40051 entries), customized as necessary based on the equipment publication's current place in the acquisition lifecycle.
  • Use extensible Markup Language (XML) and Portable Document Format (PDF) to edit and manage electronic documents.
  • Prepare technical publications for official Army authentication printing, to include editing final submissions to ensure they meet stringent Army standards
  • Manage the development and authentication of technical manuals covering the theory, operation, and maintenance of a variety of electronic equipment and/or systems.
  • Initiate and continually monitor publications projects, using a content or publication management system.
  • Support training activities for commodity tech writing personnel.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower band level in the federal service (NH-02/GS-11).

  • This non-supervisory position is subject to a salary control point equivalent to the GS-13, step 05 base salary, or if the incumbent's salary currently exceeds the GS-13, step 05 level the incumbent's salary will be put on a salary control point at the incumbents existing salary.
