The following are the duties of this position at the GS-12. You will have the opportunity to learn to perform these duties and will receive training to help you grow in this developmental position.

- Conduct valid and reliable research when analyzing internal and external information to assess risk factors and identifies high-risk areas.
- Document in audit workpapers the results of audit review, using correct formats, including source, purpose, conclusion, and results.
- Identify and applies complex specialized audit techniques to achieve audit objectives.
- Identify and uses the most appropriate statistical sampling methods to achieve objectives.
- Manage audit resources on audits or projects, e.g., assure that audits or projects are within staff day allocations, time frames and budget and discusses status with Audit Manager or Senior Auditor. Provide timely update to Audit Manager on alternative audit approaches and the related impact on coverage, risk, and resources.

Acceptable forms of proof include:

  • A copy of the record of immunization from a health care provider or pharmacy;

  • A copy of medical records documenting the vaccination;
  • A copy of immunization records from a public health or state immunization information system; or
  • A copy of any other official documentation containing: Type of vaccine administered; Number of doses received; Date(s) of administration; and Name of the health care professional(s) or clinic site(s) administering the vaccine(s).

If you decline to disclose your vaccination status and fail to provide satisfactory proof of vaccination you will be treated as not fully vaccinated for the purposes of implementing safety protocols that are based on vaccination status at TIGTA.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

To be eligible for the Recent Graduates Program, applicants must have, within the previous 2 years*, completed all educational requirements for a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying institution; or intended graduation is no more than 9 months from date of application. (However, you must graduate prior to being appointed to the position.) if applicable. For more information on education requirements go to Treasury's Pathways Program.

*Veterans who, due to a military service obligation, were precluded from applying to a Recent Graduates Program during any portion of the 2 year eligibility period may have their eligibility period extended so that they receive the full 2 years of eligibility. The remaining 2-year eligibility period will begin upon his or her release or discharge from active duty. The veteran's eligibility period may not extend beyond 6 years from the date of completion of all requirements of an academic course of study.

For the GS-9, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the federal service or equivalent qualifying educational accomplishment. Specialized experience for this position could include:

Experience in applying accounting and auditing principles, concepts and techniques to assess risk and develop an audit strategy; AND
Experience gathering and analyzing facts/data and draw conclusions

OR
2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree (or will attain within 9 months of application). Attach a copy of transcripts or list of college courses designating semester or quarter hours earned to ensure proper credit.

OR
You may qualify on a combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 18 semester hours (27 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.

For the GS-7, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service or equivalent qualifying educational accomplishment. Examples of specialized experience for this position could include:

Experience in applying accounting and auditing principles, concepts and techniques to gather and analyze facts/data; AND
Experience organizing results of analysis to meet professional standards.

OR
You may qualify based solely on education as follows: 1 year of graduate-level education or superior academic achievement based on a bachelor's degree that is demonstrated through class standing (upper 1/3 of class); grade point average (3.0/4.0 overall or 3.5/4.0 in major), or election to membership in a qualifying national scholastic honor society (or will attain within 9 months of application).

OR
You may qualify on a combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent.

Education

You must meet basic educational and/or work experience requirements for professional auditing positions in the federal government. For this position these minimum requirements include:

1. Degree (or will complete within 9 months of application): auditing; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration or accounting;
OR
2. Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in Performance Auditing, or an equivalent combination of performance auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional auditing knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following:
a. A certificate as a Certified Internal Auditor or a Certified Public Accountant, obtained through written examination; or
b. Completion of the requirements for a degree (or will complete within 9 months of application) that included substantial course work in auditing or accounting, e.g., 15 semester hours.


The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Following the completion of program requirements, selectees may be considered for non-competitive conversion to a career-conditional or term appointment. All conversion requirements will be identified in the Participant Agreement. Program requirements include but are not limited to:

  • Successful completion of at least 1-year of continuous service;
  • Completion of at least 40 hours of interactive training;
  • Demonstration of successful job performance; and
  • Meet the qualification standards for the position to which the Recent Graduate may be converted.
