As a Writer-Editor, you will:
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
- Provide input to OIG's managers and senior management on how to effectively manage writing and editing activities.
- Gather information for assignments by collaborating with teams.
- Communicate information for such purposes as: (1) articulating policy; (2) making public reports on the activities and plans of VA OIG OAE; (3) explaining and utilizing agency policies, regulations and laws; (4) reporting the results of research; (5) announcing regulations; (6) providing training and operating manuals for the use of employees; and (7) interpreting themes and conflicting points of view in expository narratives.
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Meet the qualification standards for the position to which the Recent Graduate may be converted. To be eligible for the Recent Graduates Program, applicants must have, within the previous 2 years*, completed all educational requirements for a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying institution.*Veterans who, due to a military service obligation, were precluded from applying to a Recent Graduates Program during any portion of the 2 year eligibility period may have their eligibility period extended so that they receive the full 2 years of eligibility. Specialized experience is defined as experience using writing and editing principles, concepts and methods to prepare materials for publishing AND managing the editorial review process.
