The Sexual Assault Response Coordinator (SARC) works directly for the Director of the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office (SAPRO). While the SAPRO is under the direct supervision of the Superintendent, the office receives daily operational direction from the Deputy Superintendent.

As a Sexual Assault Response Coordinator, you will:
Supervises VA/PEs, as well as Volunteer Victim Advocates (VVAs) and Midshipmen Victim Advocates (MVAs), in responding to sexual assault, sexual or gender-based harassment, relationship violence, stalking, and retaliation incidents on campus or at sea.
Guide VA/PEs in researching, developing, planning, and conducting SAPR education and training for supervisors, managers, employees, and Midshipmen to include response to and prevention of sexual assault, sexual or gender-based harassment, relationship violence, stalking, and retaliation. Conducts a bystander intervention program. Provides continual training and technical assistance. Oversees training for victim advocates.
Coordinate and supervises or conducts Sea Year specific training. Along with VA/PEs and the Sea Year Liaison (SLL), advises the Director of Professional Development and Career Services on Midshipmen training needs and on other SAPR issues.
Work to remove barriers to Midshipmen reporting sexual assault, sexual or gender-based harassment, relationship violence, stalking, and retaliation.
Maintain appropriate SAPRO records, including the case tracker, intake forms, and training records in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures.
Advise the Director on content and applicability of SAPRO policy documents and Standard Operating Procedures. Takes action to keep policies and procedures current and accurate. Generates ideas for new programs, policies, studies, and approaches. Ensures the organization’s strategic plan, mission, vision, and values are communicated and integrated into the prevention efforts.
IDEAL CANDIDATE STATEMENT: The ideal candidate is a highly motivated middle to senior level professional possessing not only the skills and compassion necessary to counsel student victims of sexual assault, sexual or gender-based harassment, relationship violence or stalking, but also the ability to communicate directly and honestly with senior leaders, faculty, and staff members who may have different levels of understanding about their responsibilities as part of a sexual assault prevention and response program. The candidate must have the intelligence and ingenuity to create training products and contribute to policy development, and must be capable of adjusting to a demanding work environment characterized by tight timelines, shifting priorities, and flexing schedules. The individual must be organized, imaginative, and attentive to details, with selfless dedication to helping others live with and learn about sexual assault.
Highly Desirable: The candidate should have victim advocacy experience with victims of sexual assault, sexual or gender-based harassment, relationship violence or stalking aged 17-25, preferably in a higher education setting. The candidate should have knowledge of Title IX and its regulations and will preferably have experience working in a Title IX program at an institution of higher education. The candidate should have experience in forensic interviewing or trauma informed interviewing techniques, exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail as well as excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

The person selected for this position is required to reside on the Academy grounds in assigned campus housing and pay a monthly housing rental fee.

Qualifications
To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet the education and specialized experience requirements for the grade at which you are requesting consideration.
To qualify for the Grade 13, you must have at least one year of experience equal or equivalent to the GS-12, it must include:
Experience working with victims of sexual assault, sexual or gender-based harassment, relationship violence or stalking.
Organizational skills and pays great attention to detail.
Experience to managing multiple, competing priorities and meet deadlines.
Experience creating and delivering training in the areas of sexual assault, sexual and gender-based harassment, relationship violence, stalking, and retaliation.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Program Knowledge: Skilled in research and fact-finding, analysis of a wide range of programs to study broad topics related to sexual assault and harassment, problem solving and training needs assessment.
Technical Knowledge: Expert technical knowledge of sexual assault, sexual or gender-based harassment, relationship violence, stalking, and retaliation prevention.
Communication: Monitors sexual assault, sexual or gender-based harassment, relationship violence, stalking, and retaliation awareness education and communications reach-back capability for Midshipmen on Sea Year experience.

Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR
Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR
