This historic post supports missions such as the U.S. Army War College, (including the Center for Strategic Leadership, Strategic Studies Institute and USAWC Press, U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center), and Dunham U.S. Army Health Clinic, Peacekeeping and Stability Operations Institute, and the Installation Management Command.

Duties

Help
  • Manage the USAWC Effective Writing Program
  • Develop student abilities to communicate clearly, succinctly, and persuasively with any audience
  • Develop faculty skills in educating and assessing student professional and academic communication competencies
  • Identify opportunities to incorporate professional and academic communication events into curricula
  • Teach on subjects related to professional and academic communication
  • Oversee contract writing coach support
  • Administer diagnostic writing assessments
  • Conduct research and scholarship relating to professional communication
  • Conduct internal and external service
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.

This is a Title 10 Faculty position.

SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTORS/KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Applicants will be rated based on the criteria listed below by a panel of subject matter experts appointed with the purpose of identifying the best-qualified candidates.
1. Must hold an advanced degree in an appropriate discipline (Communication Studies, English, Writing Studies, Rhetoric, International Relations, Political Science, or other relevant humanity/social science).

2. Must have experience instructing and/or coaching on written communication topics.

3. Should have experience teaching at the graduate or undergraduate level.

4. Should have experience with curriculum design and differing educational modalities.

5. Should have a demonstrated ability to manage projects and/or programs.

6. Must be adaptable and prepared to work collegially with an accomplished faculty and mature students functioning at the executive level.

Only degrees from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education are acceptable to meet positive education requirements or to substitute education for experience.
