Conduct scholarly research and synchronize multiple lines of effort to achieve research outcomes as assigned by the primary investigator, including incorporating faculty and cadet researchers as designated by the primary investigator.
Assist in the writing of scholarly manuscripts along with future research project white papers and proposals, making positive scholarly contributions.
Participate in multiple annual and adhoc conferences in support of project outcomes.
Teach physics or space science courses each academic year.
Conduct outreach as it relates to research program objectives and fostering future space science professionals.
Appointment to this position may be subject to a two year trial period.
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
Temporary Duty (TDY) or Business Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.

This is full-time term appointment in the excepted service not to exceed 13 months starting on or about June 2022. Term appointments may be extended beyond the initial term. As a term employee you will be eligible for medical insurance, life insurance, retirement, dental and vision. You will be eligible to earn annual leave and sick leave.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must (a) hold a bachelor's degree or higher that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, OR (b) possess a combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above.
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR/KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Applicants will be evaluated on the following: 1) Academic accomplishment (Ph.D. preferred in Aerospace Engineering Sciences, Space Sciences, Physics or Space Physics, Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Statistics, Data Sciences, or closely related field(s)); 2) Demonstrated potential to mentor student and faculty research projects; and 3) Demonstrated potential to teach undergraduate advanced physics and/or space science courses in the United States Military Academy curriculum.
