Summary

This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services, Data and Systems Group (DSG), Division of Information Systems (DIS).

As a HUMAN-CENTERED DESIGN SPECIALIST, GS-0301-13, you will responsible for supporting improvements in services across CMS, based upon assessments of user needs and applying Human-Center Design (HCD) to strategic operations and healthcare policy at CMS.

Duties

Help
  • Provide support and services on HCD planning and implementation to generate increased operational and process efficiencies in the use of HCD across CMS.
  • Work with a team of HCD experts and can also guide monitoring technical and operational aspects of programs and projects using HCD to ensure successful completion, recommending changes or solutions to problems or redirection of effort as required.
  • Monitor and supports policies, programs and projects dealing with challenging healthcare design problems
  • Participate in special projects, work groups, task forces and panels, frequently focusing on unprecedented problems, policy making and shaping the future direction of HCD at CMS.

In order to qualify for the GS-13, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: 1) Performing Human-Centered Design activities such as discovery research, usability tests, user interviews, or rapid prototyping; 2) Advising leadership on strategies to scale human-centered design within an organization; 3) Assisting with incorporating human-centered design activities into programs, services, or products that span multiple components/products/portfolios; and 4) Communicating research results and insights from human-centered design activities to senior leaders and internal/external stakeholders

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
