Duties

Help
  • You will develop internal and external communication products.
  • You will provide communication assessment and planning, Congressional affairs, command information, news writing, public information, public release, media relations, crisis communication, speechwriting and social media.
  • You will advise senior leadership on critical public affairs issues and disseminate visual and written communication products to a broad range of internal and external stakeholders
  • You will assist in coordinating, planning, and directing all aspects of distinguished visitor tours, high visibility events, special command ceremonies, and community engagements.
  • You will plan, organize, and execute special events; arrange, coordinate, and conduct command tours.
  • You will interact with appropriate departmental leadership and community partners to identify partnership opportunities, develop agendas that meet visitors' needs and requests; drafting proposed agendas for leadership approval.
  • You will develop written and visual communication products for internal and external stakeholders.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS. Position requires occasional travel, subject to short notice up to 25% or less.

Qualifications

NT-03:
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-02 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Working as a Public Affairs Specialist or Protocol Specialist.

NT-04:

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-03 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Working as a Public Affairs Specialist or Protocol Specialist.

Examples of Qualifying Experience are (but are not limited to):
The Protocol Specialist will have proven knowledge, skills, abilities and experience in written and visual communication products for internal and external stakeholders. This includes writing (leadership messages, scripts, and plans), developing responses to inquiries (from the workforce, general public, media and government officials) and developing visual products for release (trade show content, presentations, digital signage content, graphics/imagery).

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
