Duties described below are at the full-performance level. Duties assigned at a lower grade level will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee.
Manage the configuration and installation of the COBRA data system software repository, including the Linux software repository, software applications, overall system software releases, and operating system configurations.
Design and implement Linux system configuration changes to improve data system workflows.
Design and implement custom Linux scripting solutions to improve data system workflows.
Knowledgeable of Linux operating systems, including RHEL and CENTOS products.
Support data system products at GRC/NASA test facilities, including software and hardware troubleshooting as well as system configuration support.
Design, support and implement data system hardware solutions - analog inputs, hardware interface, etc.
Manage and configure system monitoring tools, such as Zabbix, to monitor data system health.
Assist with the design and implementation of FTK data management solutions, such as the COBRA files server, and data backup, system backup, and restoration workflows.

Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Education Requirement (in the Education section below), to qualify for this position you must meet the requirements below and have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, which has equipped you with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above.
To qualify at the GS-11 level, you must have:
a) You must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in at least one of the following:
Assisting or working individually in at least one of the following activities: engineering design, analysis development integration, or research of electrical systems and components; integration of electrical equipment and systems; planning designing, developing, testing or evaluating electrical and electronic equipment and instrumentation systems; or analog of digital electrical systems engineering;
Assisting with the designing or developing of engineered systems that include hardware or software or design of hardware, software, networks, and/or processes to solve technical problems;
Assisting in computer programming, electronics, mathematical models, and/or other networking systems or utilizing advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, or automation
Developing user interfaces or performing unit testing or preparing documentation in support of the developed software; applying knowledge of: object-oriented design, threaded programming, C++, network programming, and/or Linux programming.
OR
b) Completed all requirements for a doctoral degree (i.e., Ph.D. or equivalent) in an appropriate field
OR
c) Completed 3 full academic years of graduate education in an appropriate field
OR
d) Have an equivalent combination of experience and graduate study as discussed in a), b) and c) above
To qualify for GS-12, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in at least one of the following:

Required college majors for applicants qualifying on the basis of graduate education at the GS-11 only:
Code 735 Data: Computer Engineering. Other majors will qualify if the major includes or is supplemented as follows: a. Computer Science and Pure Mathematics are fully qualifying for Data Analysis, Modeling and Theoretical Simulation Techniques positions without further course requirements. For Data Systems, Hardware Systems and Software Systems positions, Computer Science and Pure Mathematics are qualifying if the major includes or is supplemented by 12 semester hours (or the equivalent) in appropriate Physical Science or Engineering courses and includes or is supplemented by at least two courses shown under "b.2." b. Applied Mathematics is qualifying if includes or is supplemented by at least two of the following courses: 1. For Data Analysis, Modeling and Theoretical Simulation Techniques: numerical methods (or numerical analysis); linear algebra, theory of equations, differential equations, mathematical statistics (if six semester hour course), operating systems, theory of computation, computer networks, programming languages, data structures, data base management, computer graphics, compiler construction, computer architecture, software engineering. 2. For Data Systems, Hardware Systems and Software Systems: electronics, electrical networks, solid-state physics (for transistors, tapes, etc.), optics (for simulation), electricity and magnetism, computer organization, logic design, control systems, communication theory. c. Other appropriate physical science and engineering majors are qualifying if the major includes or is supplemented by six semester hours (or the equivalent) in Mathematics beyond Basic Calculus and includes or is supplemented by at least two courses shown above under "b."
Education
Basic Education Requirement: You must have successfully completed a bachelor's degree with a major in a) engineering from a college or university that has at least one ABET accredited engineering program or b) Physical Science, Mathematics, Life Science, Computer Science*, or other field of physical science.
*Note: A computer science curriculum must include 30 semester hours of course work in any combination of mathematics, statistics and computer science. Of the 30 semester hours, 15 must be in any combination of statistics and mathematics which includes differential and integral calculus.
If you did not complete a qualifying bachelor's degree, you may be eligible if you have obtained a graduate degree in an AST qualifying field, as listed above.
Degrees in engineering technology are not considered qualifying for this position.
