As a Social Media Specialist, you will be coordinating social media strategy and content to increase awareness of the agency's mission and activities, goals and objectives.

The Office of Strategic Communication is responsible for using communication to help the agency meet its mission and business goals.
GS-11 Duties: Works with client teams to plan and execute social media campaigns that promote GSA’s mission and activities, and provide accurate, timely, and relevant information to GSA customers, stakeholders, and the public. Assists with the development of the agency's social media strategy, including supporting the creation of social media guidelines, handbooks, and best practices. Edits and designs professional materials, including formal presentations, fact sheets, brochures, web content and other publications, including analyzing, interpreting, and integrating information into a variety of formats, such as graphs and tables, databases, spreadsheets, presentations and web pages and monitoring social media content to ensure consistency in format and adherence to the applicable writing style and tone. Assesses and improves the effectiveness and management of GSA social media initiatives, processes, and systems. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with GSA and client personnel and representatives from other federal agencies, vendors, and other individuals as needed for the purpose of informing and/or presenting information through various mediums in compliance with GSA's overall and business line visions, goals, and objectives.
GS-12 Duties: Coordinates social media strategy and content to increase awareness of the agency’s mission and activities, advance client goals and objectives, and deepen engagement with key stakeholders, customers, and the public. Coordinates social media guidance that aligns with the agency’s strategic plan, mission, vision, and values to ensure the digital media provides up-to-date and comprehensive product/service information that is easily available to existing and potential customers. Coordinates the creation of social media content, blogs, and emails, ensuring a high level of consistency and accuracy, including liaises closely with principals and senior staff to ensure timely and relevant input into the development of digital communication strategies and content calendars; and monitoring and evaluating digital metrics and analytics to gauge audience reaction to messaging and adjusts messaging and strategy as needed. Identifies and analyzes resonance of messaging, unmet digital communication needs, emerging or existing attitudes and concerns of various audiences as they relate to the GSA’s digital programs and activities, advising management of communication sentiment and recommends modifications to approach, when appropriate. Works collaboratively with principals, senior staff, and clients to develop and execute on digital strategies and tactics, communications campaigns, and associated communication products that meet, synchronize, and promote the agency’s mission, vision, values, and activities.

The GS-11 salary range starts at $74,950.00 per year.
To qualify for the GS-11 grade level, you must
Have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level or higher in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is digital content focused on website content management and support, social media content and operations, and digital governance compliance. Experience must include performing analytical, administrative, and technical work designed to add, update, create, and publish content for web pages and social media sites; and writing and editing blog posts; creating graphic content; uploading videos and photos: and soliciting, coordinating, and editing contributions from other contributors. OR
Possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. if related. OR
Have a combination of graduate level education beyond the first 2 years of graduate study and appropriate experience that together meet the qualification requirements for this position.
The GS-12 salary range starts at $89,834.00 per year.
To qualify for the GS-12 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or higher in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience creating social media content, including written and visual content, for a social media platform; planning and executing social campaigns that promote an organization's mission and activities; and performing analysis and reporting performance of social media content and making recommendations for improvement.
If you are selected at a grade lower than the full performance level, you may be promoted up to that grade level without having to re-apply or compete against other applicants.
Relocation-related expenses are not approved and will be your responsibility.
Travel expenses associated with interviews may be approved. Determinations will be made on a case-by-case basis.
