Duties

Help

As an ETHICS ATTORNEY, GS-0905, 14/15, your assignments may include:

Work routinely and directly with senior White House officials and some of the nation's most prominent science and technology experts, as well as to offer legal counsel in a wide range of mission-critical areas. In addition to ethics issues, attorney detailees may also provide legal support on such issues as the Freedom of Information Act, intellectual property, artificial intelligence, Federal research, national security, and a broad array of other matters and have the opportunity to work with other agencies.

  • Selective Service registration if a male born after December 31, 1959
  • Be at least 18 years old and obtain a favorable security determination
  • Subject to pre-employment and random drug tests
  • RELOCATION EXPENSES WILL NOT BE PAID
  • This is a 6 to 12-month non-reimbursable detail (i.e. funded by the agency) with the opportunity to extend
  • Position is based in Washington, DC with the option of working remotely on an ad hoc basis

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: All applicants must meet the qualification requirements outlined below to be considered minimally qualified for this position. The qualification requirements are in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standards.

GRADE REQUIREMENT: This is NOT a promotion. Applicant MUST currently be at the grade level advertised.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a Law Degree from an accredited college or university. Must provide proof of active Bar License from Washington, DC or anywhere in the U.S.

AND

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have a minimum of one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility comparable to the next lower grade or comparable pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector. Examples of specialized experience are:

For the GS-14/15: Experience to perform duties at the GS-14/15 levels include 1) interpreting and applying the government ethics rules and regulations 2) giving ethics advice to senior government leaders and 3) reviewing financial disclosure reports.
