Duties

Help
  • You will serve as a technician performing work in support of Cartridge Actuated Devices/Propellant Actuated Devices (CAD/PAD)-end items: initiators, thrusters, cable cutters, catapults, rocket catapults, and parachute deployment rocket motors.
  • You will develop processes for manufacturing energetics materials/items including unit disassembly, hardware preparations, sub-assembly and assembly, inspection and pack-out.
  • You will participate in large projects in order to maintain product quality and the implementation of continuous process improvements.
  • You will review test results and recommend process improvements in order to optimize processing of energetic materials/items.
  • You will maintain relationships with personnel outside of the organization to exchange information and resolve issues related to problems associated with product quality, design, and process equipment.
  • You will support a manufacturing organization.
  • You will be required to report to the duty location advertised in the announcement on a regular and reoccurring basis. Occasional telework options may be available.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You may be required to lift and/or carry loads/items up to 50 pounds in weight.
  • You may be required to perform work involving moderate to arduous physical exertion and/or duties of a hazardous nature.

Qualifications

TO QUALIFY FOR NT-3 POSITION: Your resume must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay band, NT-02 (GS-05 to GS-08 equivalency) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector reading and interpreting technical specifications for technical engineering manufacturing processes in support of an explosive ordnance program.

TO QUALIFY FOR NT-2 POSITION: Your resume must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay band, NT-01 (GS-01 to GS-04 equivalency) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector reading and interpreting technical specifications to perform technical engineering work for an explosive ordnance program.

FOR THE NT-02:
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (a) with major study in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology; or (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics.

OR

A combination of experience and post high school education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.

This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-02 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-05 through GS-08. The NT-03 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-09 and GS-10.

This position is eligible for part time, full time or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management.

Vacancies filled from this announcement may be filled at any grade level listed.

If selected below the full performance level, you may be noncompetitively promoted to the next higher grade level after meeting all regulatory requirements, and upon the recommendation of management. Promotion is neither implied nor guaranteed.
