Summary

This position is open to current and former Federal employees with permanent status or reinstatement eligibility. Installs, repairs, overhauls, rebuilds, modifies, tests, programs, and troubleshoots major integrated mechanical and electrical systems such as Siemens APOGEE Building Automation System, Direct Digital Controls, HVAC and utility metering systems.
Conducts engineering analyses and evaluations of technical proposals and potential projects to estimate savings of energy and water.
Designs systems modifications and prepares procurement packages for repairs to the systems listed above and energy and water metering systems.
Analyzes, evaluates and reports on complex mechanical and electrical systems operations.
Maintain a Bank Account for Direct Deposit/Electronic Transfer

Qualifications
Experience: You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 level in the Federal Service or comparable pay band system. For this position Specialized experience is defined as installing, inspecting, testing and making repairs to Distributed Digital Controls, HVAC systems and the Siemens APOGEE Building Automation Systems or a similar system.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Part-time and/or unpaid experience related to this position will be considered to determine the total number of years and months of experience. Be sure to note the number of paid or unpaid hours worked each week.
Conditions of Employment:
Must have a valid State or District of Columbia driver's license.
Must be available to work late shifts, weekends and holidays and is subject to being called in for emergencies to restore the Smithsonian Institution to normal operations. Call back and emergency overtime are regular requirements of this position.
Work requires travel away from the normal duty station on a regular basis
