Duties

Help

As an ARCHIVES TECHNICIAN, you will:

- Assist the supervisor by working with and leading a group of employees who perform reference service, searching, shelving and relocation of records, and related activities. Performs reference service duties and prepares findings aids as required. Assigns work as instructed, and ensures a constant movement of work.
- Provide training, technical assistance, and guidance on work methods and procedures. Conduct quality control audits. Analyze work procedures and recommend effective solutions to problem situations or nonproductive/ineffective methods. May be directed to accomplish space planning and analysis by recommending locations for new transfers.
- Serve as facility's contact point for day-to-day agency liaison with records officers and requesters by giving advice and technical assistance with reference and service matters.
- Plan and coordinate truck deliveries and pickups in coordination with crew leaders and function chiefs as applicable, to facilitate the expeditious and correct shelving of records, within the prescribed time frame.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

For the GS-7, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-6 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:

  • Providing reference service to customers. OR
  • Receiving, transferring and disposing of records. OR
  • Managing records space and conducting quality audits. OR
  • Utilizing information technology applications (especially those related to records management).

Education
