This position is located the Department of Defense Office of Inspector General (DoD OIG). The incumbent of this position will work within the Office Deputy Inspector General for Investigations (DIG INV) as a member of the Defense Criminal Investigative Service (DCIS).

Duties

Help
  • Conducts preliminary and general investigative research on entities and persons of interest within local, state, and federal government databases and commercial databases.
  • Researches, analyzes, interprets, and evaluates investigative and administrative data to support complex criminal investigations and enhance procedures.
  • Enters and uploads pertinent information and adjudicative actions into the Case Management System (CMS).
  • Receives, records, tracks, and organizes investigative documents, evidence, and confidential information.
  • Ensures criminal history disposition documents and forms are accurate, complete, and promptly uploaded into the CMS, and forwarded to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
  • Ensures all grand jury protocols and documentation procedures are followed.
  • Processes and tracks IG subpoena submissions within the DoD OIG, responds to IG subpoenas from recipients, and provides information in response to IG subpoenas.
  • Prepares inventories of received information and coordinates the storage and disposal of subpoenaed information.
  • Serves as the primary or alternate evidence custodian for the office. Handles E and E funds for the office. Prepares and submits proper documentation in accordance with DCIS policy.
  • Assists agents with search warrant planning and post-warrant activities. Prepares seized item inventories, tracks items removed from search sites, and coordinates the return of seized items.
  • Tracks the expiration and renewal of office consensual monitoring requests.
  • Tracks the submission and renewal of office undercover operations.

  • Position has been designated as security designation level Noncritical Sensitive, Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Qualifications

Time in grade:

For entry at the GS-09 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-07 or equivalent or higher grade, in the Federal Service.

Specialized experience:

One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-07) or equivalent within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as: experience in applying analytical, investigative, problem solving and case management concepts; performing a variety of office administrative management duties, and maintaining and organizing office records and investigative information; performing investigative program support and analytical functions in criminal and civil investigations; and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.. The position requires knowledge of laws, regulations, policies and procedures associated with federal law enforcement operations and investigations. These acquired knowledge and skills are sufficient and independently performs assigned duties.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience.

Qualification and time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Applicants who have held a non-temporary General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must meet the time-in-grade restriction.

Education

Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience:

GS-09 Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education, Master's or equivalent graduate degree, may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be used to substitute for the specialized experience requirement.

Only experience and/or education obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered.

Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
