Duties

Help

This position is located in the Office of Inspector General (OIG), Office of Management and Administration, Information Technology (IT) and Data Analysis Division, IT Support Section. The Section is responsible for development, implementation, evaluation, and administration of OIG information systems, technical assistance, network systems management, and service desk & asset management for OIG personnel and offices nationwide.

As an Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC/CUSTSPT), you will:

  • Configure and optimize network servers, hubs, routers, and switches. Diagnose and resolve network problems.
  • Design evaluation methodology, incorporating subjective and empirical data obtained at line and managerial levels.
  • Desktop configuration and standardization management, desktop software deployment.
  • Develop, implement and manage storage systems across the OIG, manage backup process (storage area network (SANS) Servers, and laptops), systems and subsystems.
  • Regularly design and conduct fact-finding and feasibility studies and analyses related to a broad spectrum of administrative user software and hardware applications, problems and needs within the OIG.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:

  • Resolving technical based customer problems; e.g., by reimaging customer workstations and correcting other workstations affected by similar problems; AND
  • Providing advice on and devising solutions to a wide range of IT issues; AND
  • Reviewing proposed new systems, networks, and software designs for potential security risks.
In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must also show proficiency in 1) attention to detail, 2) customer service, 3) oral communication, and 4) problem solving.
