Summary

This position is located in the Financial Management and Assurance team. As a Communication Analyst (Written) you will be responsible assist in the development and production of written products. The incumbents support teams and individuals by helping to analyze data and develop the message of products, as well as revising sections of drafts. This is an entry level position.

Help

As aCommunications Analyst (Written), CS-1001-1your typical work assignments may include the following:

  • Prepare written communications that concurrently support multiple teams or individuals working on specific products.
  • Work with teams or individuals to draft products using plain language to help GAO communicate complex ideas to the general public in written products as well as social media posts.
  • Review draft products and revise written information of a technical nature for logic, clarity, consistency, grammatical accuracy, and adherence to GAO quality standards.
  • Draft content to make GAO's work appealing to external audiences, such as websites, blogs posts, and other social media.
  • Work with analysts, particularly new staff, to help them improve their writing skills.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the CS-I level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:

At least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GS-05) or equivalent. Specialized experience is defined as experience in which writing and editing are the focus of the job and in which the applicant demonstrates knowledge of the structure and tone of written products as well as experience improving clarity and grammatical accuracy, or identifying and addressing other issues that affect the content and quality of written products.

1 full-year of graduate education

superior academic achievement

Education

Substitution of education or equivalent combinations of education and experience may be qualifying for this position. To qualify based on education, you must submit a copy of your college transcripts. If selected, official transcripts will be required prior to employment.

Foreign Education: Foreign education must be evaluated by a private professional organization specializing in interpretation of foreign education credentials or an accredited U.S. educational institution in terms of equivalency to a degree acquired at an American college or university. A copy of the evaluation results must be included in your application package. If you do not include a copy of the evaluation as part of your application package, your foreign education will not be considered.

Travel and relocation expenses will not be paid for by the GAO.
