Duties

Help
  • Performs a variety of tasks having several steps or a sequence of tasks that requires attention to work operations in a kitchen or dining area following established procedures.
  • Sets up cafeteria lines, steam-tables, dining room tables, and side service stands with hot and cold food items and replenishes as necessary. Serves food by order and proper proportion. Break down and cleans tables and area when meal is finished
  • Returns dishes and food to the kitchen area. Brews coffee according to the number of servings required. Assembles or toss fresh fruit and green salads in quantity using prepared dressings and portions into standard serving sizes.
  • Makes cold sandwiches using prepared ingredients. Washes tables and counters. Operates, break downs, and cleans all equipment assigned to the area for food preparation. Clean kitchen equipment such as worktables, sinks and refrigerators.
  • Scrapes, soaks, scours, and scrubs heavy cooking utensils such as mixing bowls or pots. Separates food waste and trash from dishes, glasses, and silverware. Loads dishwashers. Stores cleaned dishes, glasses and silverware.

  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Completed and signed DA Form 3433 (dated Aug 2019) is required prior to entrance on duty.
  • Pursuant to EO 14043, all Federal employees, regardless of duty location or work arrangement, must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 by November 22, 2021, or before entrance on duty if after November 22, subject to exceptions as required by law.

  • Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training is required within 30 days of employment and a minimum of 4 hours refresher training annually.
  • Satisfactory completion of a medical examination may be required.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Ability to understand and follow simple instructions,
  2. Ability to use hand tools for cleaning and operating simple machines.
Highly Preferred Criteria:
  1. Must be able to work varying shifts to include days, nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
  2. Must have the ability to lift and move items that weigh up to 30 pounds.
