Duties

Help

As a/an Supervisory Technical Services Officer, you will:

  • Manage and supervise staff functions of identifying, analyzing, evaluating, and coordinating concepts and recommendations on major technical policy issues in the area of accessibility that come before the Board for determination of positions. These policy issues arise from requests for various types of technical assistance and from discussions of problems relating to proposals for changes in technical policies, programs, and operations.
  • Establish technical assistance program goals and priorities, work plans, and deadlines in accordance with the goals of the Board. Assigns work to staff in accordance with the requirements of the assignments, and the capabilities and expertise of staff.
  • Develop and implements staffing plans for the unit. Administer the agency's performance management system as it affects subordinates. Provide advice, guidance, and instruction to staff regarding the work of the unit. Develop and implements individual performance plans for subordinates. Counsel staff on the program and administrative policies and practices of the agency.

Once employees are permitted to return to the office and maximum telework is revoked, you will be expected to report to the duty station listed on this announcement. At that time, you may be eligible to request to continue to telework on a routine or situational basis in accordance with the
Agency's telework policy.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 calendar days of the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized Experience For the GS-15, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:

  • Experience serving as a technical authority; representing an organization or program as an expert in the field to provide guidance, lead research, and monitor compliance of the program's objectives; AND
  • Experience developing policy and industry precedents.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-15, you must have been at the GS-14 level for 52 weeks.

Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT.
  • A one year supervisory or managerial probationary period may be required.
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation.
