Duties

Help

As a Supervisory IT Specialist, you will:

  • Serve as the Associate Director for Operations Management assisting the Director in all aspects of IT related operations management.
  • Oversee and coordinate NHLBI IT activities including scientific computing support services.
  • Oversee the work of multiple Branches of IT professionals.
  • Develop strategic plans and assure implementation of infrastructure IT systems.
  • Advise IT professionals and consult leaders on the expanding use of information resources.

Qualifications

You qualify at the GS-15 level, if you meet one of the following qualification requirements:

I qualify for this position at the GS-15 level because I have IT related experience demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience obtained in either the private or public sector, and/or completion of specific, intensive training that demonstrates that I possess all of the following four competencies: 1. Attention to Detail - is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail; 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services; 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately; 4. Problem Solving - identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations

AND

I have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, typically gained in the IT field or performing the following types of IT related tasks: leading the planning, developing and implementing of IT infrastructure systems for an organization; developing or implementing IT strategic planning for an organization; recommending large scale IT and bioinformatics systems for large scale scientific programs; designing or implementing network storage, cloud services and delivery of customer support services for an organization.

You will receive credit for all experience material to the position, including experience gained in religious, civic, welfare, service, and organizational activities, regardless of whether you received pay.
