As a Visual Information Specialist, some of your typical work assignments may include:
Conceiving and executing strong original graphic concepts and content; Developing moderately complex graphic designs for a variety of purposes appropriate to the Commission's responsibilities and mission; Assisting senior staff with highly complex designs
Recommending points of emphasis for presenting words, communication pieces; Developing moderately complex presentations for Commissioners and senior staff, developing and suggesting quality presentation concepts, graphics, etc., for use in presentations and discussions
Collaborating with senior staff to develop and analyze web usability, testing, social media, and content improvement. Developing and analyzing a database that provides information used to do usability testing and improve existing web content.
Carrying out social media campaigns and day-to-day activities, particularly in support of the social media activities of the Commission; Monitoring effective benchmarks for measuring the impact of social media programs
Developing the information architecture and web pages of various parts of the Commission's enterprise-wide Internet and Intranet; Working closely with the webmaster; Participating in web content presentations; Developing and analyzing web usability

For the GS-11: You can qualify based on your education ORone full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 level, OR have a combination education and experience. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience utilizing visual communication techniques to develop written and graphic material. Candidate must have experience with at least 3 of the following publishing tools: Graphic Design, Webmaster, Adobe tools, Drupal, SharePoint, Web content software and Microsoft Office Suite.
For the GS-12: You must have one full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 level. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience developing written and graphic material for websites, applications and social networks for a mid-size organization utilizing all of the following tools: Graphic Design, Webmaster, Adobe tools, Drupal, SharePoint, Web content software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including any volunteer experience.

The duty location of this position is Washington, DC. Based on our current operating status, FERC employees are teleworking as opposed to coming on-site.
