This is a Student Volunteer Trainee position for Summer 2022. Summary
This is a Student Volunteer Trainee position for Summer 2022. This announcement is only open to applicants who meet the definition of a student as defined in the "Requirements" section of this vacancy announcement. Applicants must also be in good academic standing as defined by their accredited educational institution.
This vacancy announcement will be open until May 26, 2022 with three (3) cut-off dates of:
February 17th,
April 21st, and
May 19th.
The Department works to tailor each intern's experience to the interests and skills of the student against the needs of Department Program Offices. This opportunity offers training and development in the following areas:
Must complete background investigation and fingerprint check.
Applicants must meet the definition of a “Student” at the time of appointment and throughout the duration of the appointment.
Student means an individual who has been accepted for enrollment or enrolled and seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) in a qualifying educational institution, on a full or half-time basis (as defined by the institution in which the student is enrolled).
At the time of appointment, applicant must:
Be at least 16 years of age.
Be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited institution.
Attend an accredited educational institution, including but not limited to; high school, trade school, technical or vocational institute, junior college, college, university, or graduate school.
Have permission from the institution at which he/she is currently enrolled to participate in the internship program.
Must be enrolled on a, at least, half-time basis in a course of study related to the work to be performed.
Condition of Employment:
As required by Executive Order 14043, Federal employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 regardless of the employee’s duty location or work arrangement (e.g., telework, remote work, etc.), subject to such exceptions as required by law. If selected, you will be required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and submit documentation of proof of vaccination by November 22, 2021 or before appointment or onboarding with the agency, if after November 22. The agency will provide additional information regarding what information or documentation will be needed and how you can request of the agency a legally required exception from this requirement.

While ED cannot provide compensation or housing for the internship program, all interns are eligible for Metro Transit benefits to cover transportation to and from work. Students receiving outside funding (such as a grant) or school credit for the internship are encouraged to apply.
