Duties

Help

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Produces/creates complex original TV or online reports focusing on wide range of issues of interest to target audience. Identifies compelling aspects of a story and synthesizes multiple sources of information, including but not limited to original research and field interviews with VIP newsmakers, officials and experts in the target area, the US and Europe.
  • Produces original content, adapts VOA News Center's production and available write reports, and curates crowd- sourced materials to add value to multimedia content for VOA Serbian's publications and programs across platforms.
  • As an on-camera presenter or reporter in VOA programs or live remotes for VOA Serbian affiliates; voices video packages, initiates and conducts original on camera interviews with a wide variety of subjects and news sources; uses multimedia journalism to cover news events and feature stories of particular interest to target audience.
  • Uses social media tools and networks to source and verify news and information; engages audience on all digital media platforms in communication relevant to VOA Serbian service's mission.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a minimum of one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility comparable to the GS-11 or comparable pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector AND must be fluent (written/spoken/read) in the Serbian and English languages.

Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Examples of specialized experience for this position include:

  • Serving as an anchor and reporter working for a major international or national news organization;
  • Prepares and publishes TV or online reports;
  • Engages target audience using social media;
  • Reporting, writing, editing and producing content for TV, digital, and social media platforms.

Education

Additional information

  1. If you are an eligible Inter agency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) applicant, you may apply for special selection over other candidates for this position. To be well-qualified and exercise selection priority for this vacancy, displaced Federal employees must be rated at 80 or above on the rating criteria for this position.
