Summary

The incumbent will assist in one or more phases of the research process by performing a variety of technical duties, in a laboratory, rangeland, shrubland or grassland environment, such implementing research protocols for experiments and observational studies.
Conduct range/plant ecology monitoring for plant abundance, diversity, and structure such as line-intercept, belt transect, and quadrats and plant identification with taxonomic keys.
Conduct lab and greenhouse work such as germination tests, growing plants from seed, plant physiological or ecosystem measurements, soil analyses, and weighing biomass and seed samples.
Assist in one or more phases of the research process by performing a variety of technical duties, in a laboratory, or rangeland environment, such implementing research protocols for experiments and observational studies.
Use ArcGIS or similar GIS to create basic maps, preferably including experience with ArcGIS Collector or similar map software or apps for field collection with geospatial data.

Education: Completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (a) with major study in forestry, range management, agriculture, or a subject-matter field directly related to the position. Directly related subject-matter fields may include Biology, Ecology, Rangeland Ecology, Rangeland Resources, Rangeland Management, Rangeland Science, Botany, Plant Biology, Plant Physiology, Conservation Science, Ecosystem Science, Earth Science, Soil Science, Wildlife Ecology and Conservation, Wildlife Management, Wildlife Science, Forestry, Crop Science, Natural Resources (except fisheries and oceanography), and Agronomy; OR (b) that included at least 24 semester hours or the equivalent in any combination of courses such as forestry, agriculture, crop or plant science, range management or conservation, wildlife management, watershed management, soil science, natural resources (except marine fisheries and oceanography), outdoor recreation management, civil or forest engineering, or wildland fire science. No more than 6 semester hours in mathematics is creditable.
