Duties

Help

As a Financial Management Clerk, you will:

  • Assist with processing and securing supply and service orders (e.g. transcribe orders, approval submission, acquisition of goods, and receiving verification).
  • Perform support classification and review of department purchase card statement.
  • Assist with the management of department travel program and travel budget; securing travel arrangements for team movement; invitational travel write-up and submission; maintain travel files.
  • Assist with the maintenance of all financial records for the department and data entry of financial information.
  • Perform a variety of duties related to automation of information for an organization having several distinct subject matter areas and integration of these information areas into a network whereby the organization has control, access, and management capabilities for the information database.

The ideal candidate must be a highly motivated, detail oriented and organized professional possessing the ability to manage and communicate technical information. The ideal candidate must have experience and skills providing financial management, clerical support and a variety of functions to include procurement of goods and service, budgetary entry and maintenance of financial records, and management of the travel process.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • SELECTIVE SERVICE: Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for the Selective Service.
  • PROBATIONARY PERIOD: You must complete a one-year probationary period (unless already completed).
  • TIME-IN-GRADE: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade in the competitive or excepted service in the executive branch to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions contained in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F.
  • DEU REQUIREMENTS: Applicants selected under delegated examining procedures may be required to successfully complete a one-year probationary period (unless already completed).

Qualifications

To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must (1) meet the Education Requirement for the series, (2) provide a copy of transcripts for verification, AND (3) meet either the education or specialized experience requirements.


To qualify for GS-05 one experience, you must have at least one year of experience equal or equivalent to the GS-04 it must include:

  • Experience conducting the various steps and procedures required to perform a full range of financial management support duties; including financial processes and procedures, and using financial software.
  • Experience with management of travel process sufficient to perform the full range of standard and non-standard clerical assignments.



To qualify on Education, you must have:

  • Successfully completed a full 4-year course of study above high school. This education was obtained in an accredited business, secretarial, or technical school, junior college, college, or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school.
  • You can also have an equivalent combination of specialized experience and education, as described above

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).  Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.  You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
