Summary

This position is located in the Office of the Internal Ombudsman, Headquarters of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and provides administrative support in the areas of addressing workplace-related concerns and employee engagement/workplace improvement initiatives. 

Additional selections can made from this announcement to fill identical vacancies. 

Must be able to work a part-time of at least 24-hours per week during the full academic year and full time during summer/holiday breaks.

  • Assists and supports senior staff by requesting, researching, and assembling appropriate information
    including drafting plans, outlines, agendas, schedules, briefing material, meeting notes and presentations.
  • Assists in preparation and development of relevant high-quality summaries, reports, memoranda, fact sheets, PowerPoint presentations, and other, materials. Collects and inputs data using a variety of MS Office applications.
  • Researches and summarizes background information including directives, policies, and other materials as required.
  • Answers and responds to visitor's questions, concerns, and requests for information about the role and function of the Internal Ombudsman office. Recognizes urgent requests for assistance and responds appropriately.

The applicants selected will be offered an excepted service appointment without time limitation. The starting date of employment is expected to be approximately Spring 2022. 

Qualifications

You must meet the eligibility and qualifications by the closing date of the announcement.

To be found eligible for this program, applicants must: (1) be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in a degree seeking program at a qualifying educational institution on a full or half-time basis; (2) have a minimum cumulative (overall) GPA of 2.50 out of 4.0; and (3) be in good academic standing. Education requirements are established by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and must be met by close of announcement. Below are the requirements by grade:

CG-07 level –Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate level education, or eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) with completion of a bachelor's degree.  If utilizing SAA, you must submit your transcripts or proof of your national honor society membership. Click here for Superior Academic Achievement qualification requirementsOR must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CG-5 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized Experience: knowledge of the role, mission, and methods used by an organizational ombudsman, supporting employee engagement/workplace improvement programs and activities; research and analysis of data, directives, and polices for reports, utilization of software applications to create presentations, draft plans, outlines, agendas, schedules, briefing materials, meeting notes and reports; and technical support for visitors, conferences events, and establishment/maintenance of files.

Combination of Education and Experience - Your current education completed is credited as a percentage of the education required for the grade level and your current experience is credited as a percentage of the total experience required for the grade level. The two percentages are added and must equal 100% in order to qualify for the desired grade level.

An academic year of undergraduate education is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in an accredited college or university.
