Summary

About the Position: The incumbent will work for Richmond Recruiting Battalion in the Advertising and Public Affairs section and will be responsible for developing modern and engaging content to support the battalion's engagement strategy for reaching its internal and external audiences as part of the recruiting mission for the U.S. Army and Army Reserve.

Duties

Help
  • Develops modern and engaging multimedia content that promotes public awareness of the organization and supports the recruiting mission using appropriate virtual communication tools to reach the intended audience.
  • Utilizes multiple social media platforms as well as social media management tools to convey information and publicize the organization's mission.
  • Monitors Army recruiting social media pages throughout the specified unit for appropriate professional content and provide feedback and advice to page managers based on analysis of the content's effectiveness.
  • Writes a variety of articles and social media posts conveying information and clarifying the Agency operations, programs and activities to specialized audiences and the general public.
  • Produces quality stories, photos, graphics and video products that educate the intended audience about Army opportunities and benefits and corrects misperceptions about service.

Qualifications

Position may be filled as a temporary appointment NTE one year. Temporary appointments may be extended up to a maximum of three years.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes providing marketing and branding products for an organizations' social media presence including the following: a strong creative portfolio that shows a wide variety of media, techniques, and experience in Microsoft Office applications (Word and PowerPoint); effective use and proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator and InDesign) applications for the production of marketing products; technical experience in video production to include audio and pre-, during, and post-production, such as digital editing and video compression for multiple platforms; application of social media tools and software such as Sprinklr, Hootsuite, Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, Khoros, etc) in providing analysis of social media presence; advertising through multiple social media platforms (i.e. Facebook, YouTube, WeChat, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, LinkedIn, etc) by creating and posting articles, graphic design, photos, and videos to promote a product.

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position such as Social Media, Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, and Marketing. Degree/education program must include or be supplemented by 24 Semester Hours of the following courses or similar courses: Social Media Data Analytics, Digital Consumer Behavior, Digital Content Strategy, Fundamentals of Digital Marketing, Social Ads 101, Content Marketing, Multi-media Advertising, Marketing Strategy, Digital Marketing, Digital Communications, Photo and Video Editing, etc.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
