This position is located in the Office of the Director, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). The purpose of this position is to assist the Executive Secretary staff and other relevant Office of the Director staff with a variety of assignments associated with administrative efficiency and operations of the office.

This opportunity is open to Recent Graduates who have graduated within the past 2 years. If you have served in the military, please submit a DD-214 to allow for extensions of this 2 year time limitation (may be extended up to a total 6 years).
The following are the duties of this position at the CN-40, broadly equivalent to the GS-09. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
Assists Executive Secretary staff with interagency coordination of issues that directly affect the Director, senior staff, and the Office of the Director (OD).
Plays a role in facilitating the clearance processes for publication of external documents, including speeches, web content, testimony before Congress, press releases, and documents for publication in the Federal Register.
Prepares drafts of memoranda and other materials for Executive Secretary staff and other OD staff.
Works with Executive Secretary staff to implement programs and systems for managing information and paper flow to the Director and relevant senior staff.
You must be a US citizen prior to conversion to the competitive service.

Qualifications
You must meet eligibility and qualification requirements by the closing of this announcement. You must answer all job-related questions in the job questionnaire.
ELIGIBILITY: Recent graduates who have completed, within the previous two years, a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution. A veteran, who, due to a military service obligation, was precluded from applying to the Recent Graduates Program during any portion of the 2-year eligibility period shall have a full 2-year period of eligibility upon his or her release or discharge from active duty. In no event, however, may the individual's eligibility period extend beyond 6 years from the date on which the individual completed the requirements of an academic course of study. Experience for the CN-40level: To qualify at CN-40, you must have one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the CN-30 level in the Federal service. (For qualification purposes, the CN-30 level is broadly equivalent to the GS-7 level). For this position, specialized experience may be defined as:
Drafting memoranda, reports, and other documents on a variety of topic areas for review and editing by supervisors or senior staff; AND
Coordinating the tracking and management of a variety of administrative activities or requests within an office such as briefing book memos, review or clearance of internal or external facing documents, project plans, meeting agendas or support documents; AND
Applying standard procedures to the review and clearance of a variety of both internal and external documents; AND
Establishing and managing relationships with relevant internal stakeholders on behalf of an office or work group.
OR
2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree (or will attain within 9 months of application). Attach a copy of transcripts or list of college courses designating semester or quarter hours earned to ensure proper credit.
OR
You may qualify on a combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 18 semester hours (27 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.
Experience for the CN-30level: To qualify at CN-30, you must have one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the CN-20 level in the Federal service. (For qualification purposes, the CN-20 level is broadly equivalent to the GS-5 level). For this position, specialized experience may be defined as:
Assisting in drafting memoranda, reports, and other documents of a standardized nature for review and editing by supervisors or senior staff; AND
Updating tracking systems or lists to aid in the management of a variety of administrative activities or requests within an office such as briefing book memos, review or clearance of internal or external facing documents, project plans, meeting agendas or support documents; AND
Assisting in the facilitation of review and clearance of a variety of both internal and external documents; AND
Maintaining relationships with internal stakeholders on behalf of an office or work group.

You may qualify based solely on education as follows: 1 year of graduate-level education or superior academic achievement based on a bachelor's degree that is demonstrated through class standing (upper 1/3 of class); grade point average (3.0/4.0 overall or 3.5/4.0 in major), or election to membership in a qualifying national scholastic honor society (or will attain within 9 months of application). OR
You may qualify on a combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent.
TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT:

Mentorship throughout the Program.
Individual Development Plan to assist with career planning, professional development, and training activities.
At least 40 hours of formal, interactive training each year of the Program.

AFTER PROGRAM COMPLETION: Recent Graduates may be converted to a permanent position (or, in some limited circumstances a term appointment lasting 1-4 years).To be eligible for conversion, Recent Graduates must have:

Demonstrated successful job performance.
Met the qualifications for the position to which the Recent Graduate will be converted.

This appointment is being filled under the Pathways Program. The Recent Graduates Program provides individuals, who have recently graduated from qualifying educational institutions or programs, with developmental opportunities in the Federal Government.
