  • This is a developmental position; duties listed below will be performed in a developmental capacity at the GS-11 grade level. At the full performance, GS-12, the incumbent will:
  • Formulates a public involvement program for each study. Represents the Corps of Engineers at meetings with agencies, groups or individuals.
  • Provides technical planning project support within the Civil Works Branch under the Programs and Project Management Division.
  • Provides technical management of water resource studies to assure completion on time and within resources.
  • Determines scope of the project and detailed study objectives, develops study concepts, and defines approaches to completion of the various study elements.

Basic Requirement: This position has a basic entry requirement. The entry requirement requires completion of education or a combination of education and experience sufficient to be comparable to that normally acquired through the completion of a four year course of study with a major in the professional or scientific field. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

GS-11 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing plan formulation of assigned water resource projects and producing planning documents in accordance with established Civil Works policy.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

OR

Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

GS-12 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes leading an interdisciplinary team in providing analysis of water resource projects, selecting alternatives, and producing planning documents in accordance with established Civil Works policy.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Education

About the Location: Anchorage, Alaska, with a population of 292,000, offers rich culture from unique shopping and dining to fishing, hunting, camping, skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, and dog sledding.
