The Executive Director for Compliance and Oversight within VA's Office of Accountability and Whistleblower Protection (OAWP)oversees OAWP's Compliance and Oversight Division (COD) to develop processes and procedures to implement 38 U.S.C. 323(c)(1)(A)(F) and (G), which requires that OAWP: record, track, review, and confirm implementation of recommendations from audits and investigations carried out by internal and external audit and investigation agencies, identify trends and to support advice to the Secretary on all matters involving accountability. The functions are critical to the success of OAWP and the implementation of the VA Accountability and Whistleblower Protection Act of 2017 (Accountability Act).
The Executive Director reports directly to the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Accountability and Whistleblower Protection and oversees COD staff, including approximately three direct reports and 20 indirect reports.
The Executive Director advises the Assistant Secretary for Accountability and Whistleblower Protection on policy and processes related to COD, including implementation of the Accountability and Whistleblower Protection Act to its fullest potential.
The Executive Director oversees the implementation of approved policy and processes within COD and ensures measurable success for the duties of that team. The Executive Director works as part of OAWP leadership staff to implement the Accountability Act.
