As Senior Advisor for Nuclear and Weapons of Mass Destruction ST 0301 00, your typical work assignments may include:
Advise the Assistant Secretary and Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary regarding matters specific to the Department of Homeland Security Mission, and Homeland Security and Homeland Defense collaboration opportunities that bear on decisions with which they are dealing, especially those which require direct or indirect interaction with the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and US Northern Command (USNORTHCOM).
Support the Assistant Secretary and senior staff in efforts to implement DHS CWMD Office mission priorities in coordination with key and strategic mission partners.
Monitor the capability of existing, emerging and proposed technology solutions employed by Federal and other mission partners performing security and defense missions related to countering weapons of mass destruction. To this end, the incumbent must analyze and evaluate the expanding and evolving operational requirements and identify the technologies necessary to satisfy these requirements.
Facilitate exercise, operational, medical response and CWMD border security collaboration between Homeland Security and Homeland Defense Missions; as well as coordinate important security cooperation efforts.

Qualifications
To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must possess all of the Mandatory Technical Qualifications (MTQs). These qualifications would typically be acquired through education, experience, and training which reflect progressive development and achievement in leading teams and/or projects for a comprehensive business program in a complex organization. Typically, experience of this nature is gained at or above the GS-15 grade level in the Federal service, or its equivalent with state or local government, the private sector or nongovernmental organizations. An individual's total experience and education must demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the position.
