Help

Duties include but not limited to:
  • Planning, coordinating, conducting and leading civil and administrative investigations, including those of an extremely complex nature.
  • Supporting Special Agents in conducting criminal investigations at the direction of the Assistant Special Agent in Charge. Define the investigative objectives and boundaries.
  • Investigating matters that are assigned or self-generated that may include high profile violations involving extremely complex and egregious behavior related to health care fraud.
  • Engaging in activities that are the concern of several local, county, State and Federal agencies. This involves a highly complex web of relationships that requires the application of extensive knowledge of the laws, rules, policies and practices of each of these jurisdictions.
  • Integrating investigative assets from partner agencies into the current workflow, and include non-OI resources as needed in the coordination and planning process.

Specialized Experience: Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service, which provided the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

GS-09 Specialized Experience:

For the GS-09 applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate: Experience providing (1) planning, coordinating and conducting research and analysis of investigative cases; and (2) conducting interviews with suspects, witnesses and informants; and (3) assemble evidence from investigative activities; and (4) writing, editing and proofreading health care fraud investigative memoranda and other documents; OR

2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree; OR

Possess a combination of experience and education as described above which, when combined, is equivalent to 100% of the qualification requirement.

GS-11 Specialized Experience:

For the GS-11 applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate: Experience providing (1) planning, coordinating and conducting research and analysis of investigative cases; (2) conducting interviews with suspects, witnesses and informants; (3) assemble evidence from investigative activities; and (4) writing and editing investigative memoranda and other documents; OR

Possess Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; OR

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related; OR

Possess a combination of experience and education as described above which, when combined, is equivalent to 100% of the qualification requirement.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume should include the dates of all qualifying experience (from month/year to month/year) and the number of hours worked/volunteered per week.

Education

Foreign Education: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet education requirements if you can show that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. Security and Background Requirements: A Top Secret clearance may be required to be obtained and maintained and a credit check is required. If not previously completed, a background security investigation will be required for all appointees. Appointment will be subject to the applicant's successful completion of a background security investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to successfully meet these requirements may be grounds for appropriate personnel action. In addition, if hired, a background security reinvestigation or supplemental investigation may be required at a later time. Applicants are also advised that all information concerning qualifications is subject to investigation. False representation may be grounds for non-consideration, non-selection and/or appropriate disciplinary action.

Testing Designated Position: This is a Testing Designated Position. Incumbent must submit to and successfully pass a urinalysis drug screening prior to appointment. The Incumbent will also be subject to unannounced random drug testing for the duration of their time in this position.
