This job opportunity is for a Supply Technician position in the Inventory Control and Shipping Unit, Warehousing and Transportation Section, Support Services Branch, at the National Processing Center (NPC), U.S. Bureau of the Census located in Jeffersonville, Indiana. This position is included in the bargaining unit.
This job opportunity announcement may be used to fill additional vacancies. This position may be made permanent at a later date.
The individual selected for this position will:
Implement, maintain, and periodically adjust the database management system (Oracle) for the control of all major census forms, supplies and materials which are received, stored, processed and/or shipped by the Division.
Initiate procurement requests using the Comprizon and Small Order Purchase Systems for many of the major census materials.
Take appropriate action to resolve discrepancies.
Work closely with warehouse supervision and the inventory control unit supervision providing important information regarding forms status.
Initiate, post, and reconcile inventories to ensure the accuracy of stock record balances and that stock levels are properly maintained.
Tour of Duty: Monday through Friday, hours range from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Alternate Work Schedule (AWS). Alternate work schedule is an 80-hour biweekly basic work requirement that is scheduled in less than 10 days; i.e., eight 9-hour days/nights, one 8-hour day/night, and one day off. (Various flexible work schedule are available.)

Qualifications
Time in Grade: In addition to specialized experience you must meet the time in grade requirement. Current and former Federal civilian employees must have held a position at the Grade 06 for at least 52 weeks in the Federal Service for promotion to the Grade 07. Time-in-grade/band requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement unless eligible for special hiring authority, reinstatement eligible, non-current Federal employee applying as VEOA eligible which do not require time-in-grade/band.
Minimum qualification requirements: You MUST have a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute with 3 or fewer errors based on a five minute sample and the experience or education as listed below or a combination of both experience and education beyond high school. You may meet the typing requirement by answering Yes to the typing ability question in the online job assessment questionnaire.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You qualify at the Grade 07 level if you possess one year of specialized experience that equips you with the skills needed to perform the job duties. This specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the grade 06 level to meet the qualification requirements in the Federal Service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as establishing controls, procedures and instructions for reports and record keeping; posting issues, receipts, inventories, and other data into a system database; establishing and maintaining a computerized stock record, including extensive use of Microsoft Excel; conducting extensive research; reviewing requisitions and reference material; initiating supply requisitions.
Employees on a permanent appointment who were hired through a Recruiting Bulletin, who have not served in their current appointment for at least 90 days, are not eligible to apply.
