Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Preparing record copies using various methods in response to patient and facility requests.
  • Responding to inquiries from various personnel and agencies to determine the validity of requests.
  • Applying regulations and policies for release of information, and records management.
  • Providing customer service to walk-in and telephone customers.
  • Utilizing the Electronic Health Records (EHR) system.
  • Verifying and determining eligibility for patients requiring health services.

Combining Education and Experience: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements at grade GS-5:

  • For GS-5 level positions, only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.
