This vacancy is RESTRICTED to current on board permanent and indefinite Title 32 techs and T 5 employees of the Utah National Guard.
IAW TCP-2021-005 Title 5 onboard candidates extends to currently serving (M-day/DSG) and former National Guard members of the respective State. Candidates may establish eligibility based on current membership or a National Guard Bureau Form 22/ National Guard Bureau Form 22A.
As a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (Title 32), WG-8852-11, you will:
Performs Quality Assurance (QA) inspections and evaluations of unit or facility performed unmanned aircraft system maintenance and repair, in support of organizational, intermediate, and/or depot maintenance on the entire RQ-7B "Shadow" equipment set assigned to the unit or facility.
Inspections are conducted at all stages of work performance from pre-initial entry into shops, random sampling or directed inspections while work is in progress, and final inspections on completed work.
Inspections conducted on contracted work are performed in accordance with the Statement of Work and Workload Agreement in support of the Quality Assurance Surveillance Program.
Inspects aircraft fuselage and airframes, landing gears, tires, power trains, drive trains, fuel, electrical, hydraulic, flight controls, rotor, transmission, instruments, armaments, and/or all systems required to make the aircraft a total mission capable system to include the launchers, Tactical Automatic Landing System, Ground Control Stations, tactical vehicles, generators, environmental control units and all other ground support equipment related to the UAS system.
Inspects mechanical and hydraulic interface systems to armament systems for proper installation and correct alignment.
Inspects high voltage dynamotors and power supplies with interface to electrical and avionics systems; heating and cooling systems, camera or target gathering equipment.
Reviews contractors' quality control or QA reports and researches actions appearing as errors or invalid data to determine reasons for discrepancies by consulting source documents such as microfiche, Quality Control or QA guides, Maintenance Allocation Charts or Technical Manuals, Repair Parts and Special Tools Listings to obtain information.
Reviews work order requests and inspects for correctness and proper format to ensure completeness and audit capability.
May review input data which consists of all supply and maintenance activities from civilian contractors.
Serves as the Primary Point of Contact for the notification, reporting, and implementation of all Aviation and Ground Safety messages as they pertain to the assigned unit equipment.
Functions as the primary UAS maintenance liaison between the State Army Aviation officials, ARNGRC (ARNG-AV), NGB, PM-UAS, and Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM) personnel for issues pertaining to UAS maintenance parts, repairs and documentation issues.
Periodically inspects in-house and contractors' publications files and technical libraries to ensure proper administrative reviews and timely posting of changes to publications.
Ensures that Government property is controlled and properly maintained.
Monitors test equipment and special tools for calibration and serviceability.
Provides technical assistance on all UAS maintenance matters to UAS operators, UAS maintenance crews or contractor support personnel.
Operates light utility motor vehicles, up to two and a half ton, to transport self and others to worksites that are remote from the immediate shop facility, between installation airfields, or emergency repair sites when required.
Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. May require travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
May occasionally work other than normal duty hours.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training that has provided the candidate with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications. Must be skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment.
WG-11 - 18 months of specialized experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification. Experience coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow. Must have the ability to instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container.
