As the Communications Specialist (Recent Graduate) your normal duties will include:
Carrying out a variety of communication assignments to promote and support OIG communications goals and functions.
Using a variety of web-based information sharing tools such as Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.
Creating, designing, and formatting written and visual content on a variety of communication channels.
Writing, editing, and proofreading written material for a variety of communications channels such as internal memorandums and intranet posting.
Designing visual and multimedia content using photo and video editing software.
Maintaining content on OIG intranet by ensuring content is available and still relevant.
You will serve as a Communications Specialist (Recent Graduate) under the Pathways Recent Graduates Program within the Office of the Inspector General. The agency may non-competitively convert a Recent Graduate who is a U.S. Citizen to a term or permanent appointment in the competitive service, as long as the Recent Graduate successfully completes the OIG's 1 year developmental program and meets the OPM Qualification Standards for the targeted occupational series and grade level. There is no guarantee for conversion. If converted, the position may have a full-performance level of GS-13. The duration of the Recent Graduate appointment is a trial period. If the position is not converted, the position will be terminated.

Due to COVID-19, the OIG is currently in an expanded telework posture. If selected, you may be expected to temporarily telework, even if your home is located outside the local commuting area. Once employees are permitted to return to the office, you will be expected to report to the duty station listed on this announcement in accordance with the Department's reentry procedures provided by your servicing Human Resources Office. At that time, you may be eligible to request to continue to telework 1 or more days per pay period depending upon the terms of the Department of the Interior's telework policy.
Qualifications

Pathways Recent Graduates Program Eligibility:
You must be a recent graduate who has completed, within the previous two years, an associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution such as an accredited technical or vocational school; a 2- or 4-year college or university; a graduate or professional school (e.g., law school, medical school); or a post-secondary home school curriculum. Note: Certificate program is defined as post-secondary education in a qualifying educational institution equal to at least one academic year of full-time study that is part of an accredited college-level, technical, trade, vocational, or business school curriculum.
Preference eligible veterans who were precluded from applying due to their military service obligation begin their 2-year eligibility period upon release or discharge from active duty; however, eligibility for these veterans cannot exceed 6 years from the date on which the degree or certificate was obtained. The date of release or discharge from active duty should be later than the date the degree or certificate was obtained.
Have graduated with a 3.0 out of 4.0 final cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA).
Minimum Qualification for the GS-07 level
Education: 1 full year of graduate level education; OR a Bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement as defined by OPM OR
Work Experience: 1 year (52 weeks) equivalent to the GS-05 level in the Federal service:
1. Researching, gathering, and verifying information, AND
2. Writing, editing, and proofreading written material OR
Combination of Education and Experience: If you possess some, but not all, of the education or specialized experience described above, you may still qualify by combining the amount of creditable experience and education that you possess. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education in excess of 18 hours (total semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify.
Minimum Qualification for the GS-09 level
Education: A master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR a L.L.B. or J.D. OR
