Duties

This position is located in the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), Cybersecurity Division.

The primary purpose of the position is to serve as an Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC) within the Joint Cyber Defense Collaborative to author and publish cybersecurity alerts and advisories on known cyber threats and vulnerabilities, incidents, and mitigation guidance.

Typical work assignments include:

  • The incumbent is responsible to develop, coordinate, and publish technical products or public stakeholder messaging, such as information technology or cybersecurity threat and mitigation guidance.
  • Expertise in technical writing, editing, reviewing and delivering cybersecurity data and information to stakeholders, such as technical advisories and best practices via our website, print, and/or social media channels.
  • The incumbent is responsible to compile data from multiple sources to produce effective public stakeholder messaging, such as on known cyber threats and recommended mitigation actions.
  • Able to collaborate with a wide range of partners: internal; the Intelligence Community (IC) and law enforcement partners; the federal civilian executive branch; private sector; international; and state and local partners, to coordinate on cyber threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Experience in project management to support program activities and report on process gaps and provide guidance on solutions to enhance ongoing operational efforts.
  • The incumbent is responsible to review and implement improvements to current work processes, knowledge management systems, and program requirements, and collaborate with counterparts across the agency to implement effective standard operating procedures.

Basic Qualifications
You qualify for the GS-13 and GS-14 grade level if you possess information technology related experience demonstrating each of the four required competencies:

GS-13: In addition to the above requirement you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level performing the following duties: 1) writing and/or editing, coordinating, and publishing cybersecurity plans, guidance, and/or advisiories; 2) reviewing and implementing improvements to current work processes and program requirements; and 3) collaborate with multiple partners to create, review and enhance cybersecurity plans, guidance, and/or advisories.

GS-14: In addition to the above requirement you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-13 grade level performing the following duties: 1) writing and/or editing, coordinating, and publishing cybersecurity plans, guidance, and/or advisories; 2) leading and directing cybersecurity program activities; and 3) collaborating with multiple partners to create, review, and enhance cybersecurity plans, guidance, and/or advisories.

National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Current or Former Political Appointees: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.

Promotion Potential: The full performance level of this position is GS-14.

This is a non-supervisory position.
