Summary

This position is in the Veterans and Employee Engagement Service, Veterans Experience Section, at the Aiken VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic in Aiken, SC. Duties

Help

Greets visitors and employees entering medical center to improve veteran experience.
Uses established screening protocol to ensure all people entering medical center meet the criteria for entrance.
Uses hand-held temperature device to take the temperature of visitors and employees.
Explains Center for Disease Control and hospital entrance processes.
Checks VA computer system for appointment information.
Makes appropriate calls to VA Operator to invoke a Rapid Response if visitor has medical emergency.
Provides way-finding assistance to visitors.
Receives telephone calls at the front desk location.
Greets venders and directs them to correct location.
Distributes printed information regarding VA programs.
Shares information about MyHealtheVet program.
Verifies veterans identity to obtain clearance for release of information.
Operates web-based software.

This position is a term appointment. Term appointments are non-status, nonpermanent appointments of limited duration. The appointment to a Term position does not confer eligibility for promotion or reassignment to other positions or the ability to be non-competitively converted to permanent employment.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday; 08:00 a.m. to 04:30 p.m.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary. When assisting the Veteran or family member with way-finding throughout the medical center and inpatient care areas some walking is required. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

  • General Experience: You must have one year of general in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Qualifying general experience is documented experience progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. (This experience must be supported by your resume to be creditable.) OR,
  • Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed 2 years education above the high school level (i.e., 60 semester hours) in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite.   • Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of general experience and education beyond GS-3 education requirement (i.e., successfully completed 1 year education above high school). COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement.
As required by Executive Order 14043, Federal employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 regardless of the employee's duty location or work arrangement (e.g., telework, remote work, etc.), subject to such exceptions as required by law.
