Duties

Help
  • Review, organize, and transfer all appropriate hard copy records to the Federal Records Center/NARA by the December 31, 2022 deadline.
  • Convert all remaining records into electronic format across the Forest and assist in training Chugach NF employees in proper records keeping and management.
  • Manage records across the Forest with duties relating to the life cycle (creation, maintenance, retrieval, and disposal) of records.
  • Provide long range resources, technical services, and administrative planning for the use of records and data.
  • Draft and administer local policy in accordance with USDA and Forest Service policy and assures compliance with rules and regulations.
  • Provide advice for the Supervisor Office and Districts of records archival and the disposition program.
  • Collaborate with the supervisor to ensure that all area records are processed, maintained, and archived according to the records schedule.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience Requirement:

For the GS-09: You must have one-year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as ensured records were processed, maintained, and archived according to schedules, policies, and procedures; providing technical advice on collection, disposition and retention of records and directives; and implemented and analyzed a records system, purging records from media (paper) to an automated unified electronic system(s) per a records schedule.


OR:

Masters or equivalent graduate degree or two (2) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a degree in a field directly related to the work of the position. Acceptable fields or coursework include library science or records and archive management, and the education must have been obtained from an accredited college or university

OR:

A combination of specialized experience and education in a related field described above. Only graduate education more than 18 semester hours may be used to qualify applicants for this grade level. To be creditable the education must have been obtained from an accredited college or university and demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

This is a bargaining unit designated position represented by the National Federation of Federal Employees, IAMAW.

Forest Service daycare facilities are not available.

Government Housing is not available.

This position may be eligible to telework up to four days per week, based upon the duties of the position. This position may also be eligible for flexible work arrangements as determined by agency policy and any applicable collective bargaining agreements.
The salary amount will be adjusted to include a Cost of Living Allowance (COLA). A gradually reducing COLA will continue to be paid after December 31, 2012. Applicants who meet the basic minimum qualification requirements established for the position will be placed in the Eligible category.
